zara phillips wedding

zara phillips wedding
The grimace on Mike Tindall’s face as he returned to training with the England rugby team yesterday is a clue to ju
st how heavy the partying was after his wedding to Zara Phillips at the weekend.
And it wouldn’t be any surprise to see his teammates looking similarly the worse for wear, if the messages they have posted on Twitter about the reception are anything to go by.

Forehead Fascinators and Nude Heels Galore at Zara Phillips’s Wedding

zara phillips stewart parvin
This weekend saw Zara Phillips looking utterly resplendent as she walked down the aisle to Mike Tindall wearing a classic gown designed by the Queen's own couturier, Stewart Parvin. The full-skirted beauty was adorned with a row of covered buttons and topped off with a cathedral-length (ie: to the floor) veil, plus her mother's Greek key tiara.
But it wasn’t just the bride’s frock that had us agog – oh no. In fact, there was more coiffed hair under fancy hats than a day at the races and given the choice of footwear, we’re assuming a strict ‘Nude Heels Only’ memo. Seriously, what has K-Middy started?! Happily, there were several colourful splashes too, not to mention a satisfying absence of headpieces resembling parts of the female anatomy. Phewf! So from the likes of Princess Bea to err, that Irish one from The Saturdays and some lass from Corrie (oh yes), let’s take a look at Zara’s wedding belles

We begin, of course, with Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge chose a brocade coat by Jane Troughton in an understated, Mother-Middy-would-approve creamy tone to avoid upstaging the bride. How sweet. Plus, being a bona fide recessionista, this is another recycled number – not only did Kate wear it for the 2006 wedding of Laura Parker Bowles but also for last May’s wedding of Mel Nicholson and Oli Baker. What's more, DoC accessorised the look with – quelle surprise! – her trusty LK Bennett shoes and matching clutch.

The hat, however, is entirely new and, sitting at a precariously jaunty angle, makes a more adventurous statement than we’re used to. Indeed, following on from Beatrice’s pretzel-as-a-hat, Kate’s headgear has already garnered comparisons to a pringle – how rude! But note the gorgeously feminine flowers on the under side and did we mention forehead fascinators are sooo OTM? Exactly.

As for the maven of bonkers wedding wear, Bea continued her sartorial epiphany with a fabulous fitted jacket with flared peplum detail by Angela Kelly over a matching dress covered in corsages and Swarorski crystals. And proving just how far she’s come post hat-gate, Bea wisely opted for a subtle satellite dish-inspired hat. One Tweeter asked, ‘Is Beatrice helping Sky get close-up coverage

Bea’s sister Eugenie also fared better than she did on 29th April. Her very safe chocolate-brown dress with an oyster-coloured fitted jacket guarantees she won't fall into Ugly Sisters territory again, but we can't help wondering if it's too frumpy for the 21-year-old

Oh, how we love Camilla’s hat. Granted, it is a tad sprouty and pot-plant-esque, but the delicate feather-like detailing makes it an original and youthful creation, dontcha think? As for the tailored silk jacket, no prizes for guessing this one’s by Anna Valentine, the same designer who made the Duchess of Cornwall’s elegant outfit for Wills and Kate’s Big Day, as well as her own.

A refreshingly summery sight came courtesy of Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly who swooshed into Canongate Kirk sporting cascading ruffles on a flowing neutral gown, polished off with a bold colour-popping, wide-brimmed hat and matching orange clutch. What a winner. And if you’re wondering why a (whisper it) CORRIE star is at a royal wedding, it’s because Katherine was a former classmate of the groom. So now you know.

Queen’s eldest granddaughter goes from renegade royal to Mike Tindall's housewife

Zara Phillips
As the Queen’s eldest granddaughter and 13th in line to the throne she could have led a life of pomp and privilege before marrying some wealthy foreign prince or a millionaire magnate.
But when Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips MBE walks down the aisle after tying the knot in Edinburgh today she will be plain Mrs Mike Tindall – housewife, horsewoman and homebody.
And that’s just how this fiercely independent young woman has always wanted it to be. For Zara, 30, is the reluctant princess who ripped up the rule book of her ancestors and snubbed her nose at stuffy protocol.
At 17 she flaunted her tongue piercing at her uncle Charlie’s 50th birthday party.
Two years later she hired a waiter in a leather thong to serve drinks to pals as they giggled over sex toys at an Ann Summers party.
And the whole nation knew when her first serious relationship fell apart because Zara was seen brawling in the street, punching and kicking her man.
Zara’s marriage to a burly, broken-nosed rugby player known as The Fridge couldn’t be more different than that other royal wedding three months ago. But friends have revealed it has brought just as much joy to her adoring gran, proud mum and other relations – who respect and admire her determination to remain the renegade royal.

Zara's something borrowed great-grandmother's tiara

Romantic: Veil and tiara complement Zara's sleek blonde hair
The Queen never wore the tiara in public and it was next seen on Princess Anne, who was given the tiara by her mother in 1972.
The Princess Royal, now 61 and famous for recycling her outfits for high-profile occasions, wore the tiara during her engagement to her first husband, Zara's father Captain Mark Phillips, and has been pictured sporting it at least four times, notably in 2000 for an official portrait to mark her 50th birthday.

The Meander Tiara was given to Zara Phillips to wear on her wedding day today
Zara Phillips, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II
Zara kept up the wedding tradition of having something borrowed by earing a spectacular diamond tiara that has been passed down through four generations of the Royal Family - and was last worn by her mother two months ago.
The bride's short silk veil was set off by the Meander tiara, once owned by Prince Philip's mother and loaned to Zara by Princess Anne, who wore it in May for a state banquet at Buckingham Palace to welcome President Obama and his wife Michele.
The tiara is based around a classical Greek 'key pattern' design and boasts a magnificent cut diamond at its centre, which is set off by a laurel wreath pattern picked out in diamonds with honeysuckle motifs on either side.
The silver headpiece made its way into the Windsor family in 1947 when it was given as a wedding gift to the Queen, then Princess Elizabeth, from her mother-in-law, Princess Alice of Battenberg.
Its Greek style was inspired by her marriage to Prince Andrew of Greece, the father of the present Duke of Edinburgh.

Zara Phillips wed Mike Tindall Saturday, July 30. She is Queen Elizabeth’s eldest granddaughter and an award-winning equestrian and he is a rugby player. The pair wed at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The dress Phillips wore was an ivory silk faille creation by Stuart Parvin and a Greek key tiara belonging to her mother, The Princess Royal, which had been a gift to Queen Elizabeth from her own mother-in-law and given to Princess Anne in 1972.
The event was a lower-key affair compared with this year’s earlier wedding of Phillips’ cousin William, Prince of Wales to Kate Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Phillips is known for her laid-back style and, despite being granddaughter of the Queen, holds no royal title, at the request of her mother at her birth.
While Phillips and Tindall may have opted for a smaller wedding, theirs was by no means a dull affair. The Daily Mail quoted a royal source as saying, “It was just a family knees-up. Your archetypal wedding, really. Except with a lot of royals and rugby players. And a lot of drinking. In fact make that a hell of a lot of drinking.” The source continued, “Pretty much everyone stayed up all night. I don't even think Zara and Mike went to bed.
